Sales Engineer at Koniku Inc.
San Rafael, CA, US

Koniku is an early-stage, rapidly-growing company based in Silicon Valley. We build smell cyborgs by merging genetically modified living biological neurons with classic devices. Our flagship device, the Konikore™, detects smells using GPCR’s or olfactory receptor proteins hosted in biological cells. There are dynamic applications in healthcare, security, synthetic flavors & foods, and much more.

We partner with a range of Fortune 500 companies as Technology Integrators and have been recently featured by The Financial Times, CNN, Bloomberg, TechCrunch & others. Notable partners, customers and investors include: Airbus, BASF, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Fraunhofer Institute Stuttgart, P&G, SoftBank, Platform Capital, IndieBio (SOSv).

Beyond the numerous B2B opportunities, we aim to have a Konikore in ten million homes as a real-time disease diagnostic tool within the next decade. Koniku is a face-to-face company and our campus & culture are the nucleus of the Koniku spirit. Our headquarters include a next-generation deep technology Wetlab and a robust manufacturing facility, alongside our corporate, administrative & customer support teams. We are driven by a fundamental belief that “Bio is Tech™”.

Koniku is transitioning to scale. Both in the production of Konikore's - smell cyborgs and scaling up use-case with the same core technology/infrastructure. We are immediately focused on a few verticals, for example, security, food or industrial monitoring, and healthcare (screening and diagnostics). Our product - the Konikore™ - may stand alone within our own minimal encasing, function with third-party encasing and accessories, or form part of a larger third-party solution.

Additionally, we have a formalized Koniku Technology Integrator Ecosystem (KTIE) which allows us to develop these solutions hand in hand with technology integrators and end-users. The goal is to ensure that our technology though radically innovative puts the customer, real-world solutions at the center.

This role works with the engineering & sales team to help the customer literally grasp the solution in their hands immediately. The role involves listening carefully to what the end-user aims to accomplish. Your primary job is to deeply understand the technical solution the customer really wants or needs. You are unconstrained by your own prior knowledge or bias but you are enabled by them.

Specifically, you are required to quickly build thoughtful & delightful prototypes solutions based on the Konikore™. You are needed to accompany the sales team in explaining technical concepts in simpler terms. You will design and run internal demos. Demos which immediately drive home the versatility and use case of the Konikore™.
