Purpose and Impact
The Senior Engineering Project Manager will be part of the Arnhem Engineering team, and will play a critical role in our mission to produce and provide our MYLO™ product to the world at our first commercial-scale manufacturing facility and enable growth and expansion worldwide.  This position will be primarily responsible for the project engineering and management of various capital projects to not only improve on existing capabilities, but also expand capacity with new manufacturing lines.  This role will be managing some of Bolt’s larger capital expansion and improvement projects. The work will range from equipment design engineering to capital project engineering, vendor and contractor management, equipment start-up and commissioning, equipment standard development, documentation organization, continuous improvement and implementing lean six sigma principles. 

 

In addition to the capital project work, Bolt Threads is looking for a person who is excited to get out on the floor with the team and help problem solve.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Own key expansion projects, including scope, schedule and budget  
  • Manage engineering firms, vendors and other 3rd parties, ensuring on-time and in-scope delivery  
  • Ensure compliance with government and engineering standards 
  • Stakeholder communications via project summaries and status reports
  • Work alongside the Process Development and Engineering teams to build and deliver on quality process engineering deliverables including:
    • Functional specifications
    • Process maps
    • Process descriptions
    • Equipment Design schematics and calculations
    • Cycle maps and IE models
    • Process models
  • Ensure smooth handoffs from the project team to long term owners by providing instructions and training support to technicians & operators
  • Document and maintain current standards and best practices
  • Innovate, improve processes and standardize
  • Act as a safety leader for the team 

 

Requirements

  •  B.S in Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience, including:
    • Capital project management experience
    • Working in a manufacturing environment
  • Project Management certification, or similar 
  • Experience leading, managing, and executing design & build of large and complex capital projects (value >$1MM), with proven ability to translate engineering goals into solutions that meet scope, schedule, and cost targets
  • Experience effectively managing vendors, contractors and 3rd parties to help maximize the output and quality of an engineering group
  • Understanding and appreciation of industrial machine controls and electrical systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency reading and editing detailed process, electrical, pneumatic and fluid schematics
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% time
  • Ability to work in the Netherlands without visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, or equivalent
