Lab Manager at Biotech Startup at Valitor

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will excel in the dynamic environment of an early-stage startup company, enjoys working on big projects and taking on big challenges. This position will support a scientific team that is developing a pipeline of novel drug products. This position will be required to work on site in Valitor’s laboratories and will require interaction with the Valitor team. The day-to-day responsibilities will include performing laboratory tasks to facilitate the activates of the scientific team, such as maintaining chemical/consumable inventories, generating research reagents, and performing routine bioassays and analytical chemistry methods. This position will also assist in back-office operations including ordering, bookkeeping, and assisting the executive team to coordinate business development activities.

With our platform technology, we have developed novel methods of modifying therapeutic proteins to achieve substantial control over their pharmacokinetics, target specificity and bioactivity. Responsibilities:

·       Conducting laboratory procedures following defined laboratory technical protocols.

·       Using basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., SDS-PAGE, ELISA, colorimetric assays)

·       Using sterile technique for mammalian cell culture.

·       Preparing cell and/or tissue samples for biochemical analysis.

·       Preparing bacterial cultures for protein expression and purification.

·       Maintaining accurate and well-organized laboratory records, worksheets and notebooks.

·       Basic bookkeeping and inventory management

·       Compliance with company Environmental Health and Safety policies, procedures and practices

 

Required Education/Skills: 

·       BS/BA or AS/AA in Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related discipline 

·       Prior experience in a biological or chemical laboratory 

·       Ability to conduct research with careful attention to detail

·       Strong organizational skills

·       Ability to communicate effectively with scientists across multiple disciplines

·       A dependable, self-starter capable of working independently within a small team

·       Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
