Position Summary

The Target ID team is seeking a highly motivated molecular and/or cellular biologist to drive novel target identification and validation efforts. The ideal candidate will apply and develop high-throughput approaches to identify oncology targets in in-vitro models with diverse molecular and phenotypic readouts. We perform hypothesis-driven research for target validation and execute mechanistic studies utilizing a variety of genomic and non-genomic tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of scientists and research associates while also making strong individual contributions in the lab.
  • Identify and adapt relevant functional assays for use in our antibody screening workflows.
  • Apply functional genomics and gene editing technologies for target identification that include genome-wide CRISPR screens, knockout and overexpression studies, etc.
  • Investigate novel screening hits in the context of disease biology by generating and testing hypotheses using a variety of biochemical, molecular, cellular, and genomic assays.
  • Work closely with NGS and bioinformatics scientists to interpret screening results and generate screening hits for follow-up studies.
  • Contribute to the technological development of our discovery pipeline and act as a mentor for others.

Skills and Qualifications

  • PhD in biology, biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • Strong technical expertise in molecular biology and/or cell engineering techniques, including mammalian cell culture, lentiviral transduction and designing cell based assays.
  • Scientific expertise in loss-of-function screening modalities, such as CRISPR and relevant assay readout technologies (i.e., high-content microscopy, flow cytometry, NGS based technologies) is preferred.
  • Experience working with glycoproteins and familiarity with other post-translational modification targets is a plus.
  • Proficiency with computational biology including high throughput omics, visualization, and interpretation is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize options, anticipate challenges, collaborate, and execute on goals as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a fast paced environment.
