Sr. Scientist/Scientist, Analytical Chemistry at ORIC Pharmaceuticals

We are seeking a highly motivated analytical research and development scientist with a proven record of sustained laboratory achievement and innovation to join our growing CMC group at ORIC Pharmaceuticals. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Analytical Chemistry. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently lead analytical development and product characterization activities for one or more molecules in CMC Development.
  • Drive the establishment of internal state-of-the-art analytical capabilities to support process chemistry and pre-formulation/formulation development to enable accelerated CMC development timelines.
  • Able to develop and optimize analytical methods to support internal process development and discovery pharmaceutics. Expected to solve challenging problems by application of one or more (traditional or emerging) analytical techniques.
  • Independently design experiments, execute, and interpret data. Maintain timely and accurate lab records consistent with good documentation practices.
  • Provide oversight of analytical method development, transfer, validation, release, and stability testing activities at CDMOs; function as a subject matter expert for in-depth physical/chemical characterization of NCEs at CROs.
  • Familiar with ICH and regulatory guidance. Provide technical guidance during investigations at CMOs/CROs in collaboration with quality.
  • Clearly communicate results to manager and present at team meetings. 
  • Author and review technical reports, technical packages, and relevant sections in health authority findings. 


  • Master’s in analytical or organic chemistry with minimum of >7 years of relevant pharmaceutical/Biotech industry experience or PhD in analytical/organic chemistry with 0-2 years of relevant pharmaceutical/Biotech industry experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in analytical technologies such as UHPLC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS, SFC, dissolution, wet chemistry, DSC, TGA, PSD, XRPD,  spectroscopic and compendial methods.
  • A strong attention to detail and demonstrated prior experience working in GLP, cGMP environment.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills; ability to work independently and efficiently collaborate in a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary team environment. 
  • Ability to take initiative, ownership and provide strategic input.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, scientific curiosity, critical thinking and ability to quickly adapt and shift focus as needed.
