ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

We are looking for a highly talented individual to join the Process Development team as a Sr/Staff Scientist. Working in collaboration with the R&D, Microfluidics and Bioinformatics, the process development scientist will serve as the subject matter expertise that leads new product transfer and scale up activities of the Taperstri reagent consumable manufacturing processes.  In addition, the position will also   participate in process improvement and sustaining projects  in support of commercialization. 

Responsibilities

  • Act as the point of contact for all development activities related but not limited to Tapestri consumable reagent manufacturing and QC processes
  • Monitor production capacity and yield performance;  Design, validate and develop scale up manufacturing processes to support commercial demand
  • Collaborate with R&D production transfer team in defining production procedures, setup BOM and in-process testing parameters  during NPI (New Product Introduction)
  • Evaluate or identify new methods or technologies to monitor critical quality attributes of reagents and materials utilized in the manufacturing processes
  • Serve as the internal expert in working with external OEM suppliers and raw material vendors in developing  material/product specifications
  • Serve as the subject expert in evaluating production process change control, deviation and failure investigation, and continuous improvement projects
  • Provide technical presentation during internal and external collaborations
  • Author protocols, reports, and product specifications
  • Train manufacturing and QC personnel on new processes/ protocols
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed by leadership

Requirements

  • Ph.D in Molecular & Cell Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years working in a process development or manufacturing support role in a life sciences or pharmaceutical company
  • Master or Bachelor in Molecular & Cell Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields with a minimum of 7 years working in a process development or manufacturing support role in a life sciences or pharmaceutical company
  • Experience with single-use manufacturing technology, automation using liquid handling robots, and clean room operations highly desirable
  • Practical experience with NextGen Sequencing, multiplex PCR, digital PCR and single-cell technologies
  • Proficiency in DOE
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional team environments
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Travel, up to 15% of the time.
