Position Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated team member to join our Protein Engineering group. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing new expression, purification, and analytical methods to support protein production and characterization. This position will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and utilize a variety of biophysical techniques to characterize novel therapeutics.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produce proteins in mammalian expression systems at 2-mL to 1-L scale
  • Develop new purification methods (e.g. affinity and tag-based methods) to support production of antibodies, bispecifics, and recombinant proteins
  • Characterize molecules through analytical methods, including SEC, IEX, HIC, MALS, BLI, SPR, Tm/Tagg and SLS/DLS
  • Develop and perform protein binding and kinetics assays (e.g. ELISA, BLI, SPR)
  • Catalog and integrate materials and results into informatics systems
  • Work with other project team members and communicate results with the team
  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines and practices

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Biotechnology, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or related field
    • Associate Scientist: MS with 5+ yrs or BS with 7+ yrs
    • Senior Research Associate: MS with 2+ yrs or BS with 4+ yrs
    • Research Associate II: MS with 0+ yrs or BS with 2+ yrs
  • Experience with mammalian recombinant protein production required
  • Experience with FPLC, HPLC, SDS-PAGE required
  • Experience with HEK293 or CHO transient transfection preferred
  • Experience with bispecific antibodies a plus
  • Experience with ELISA, BLI and/or SPR is a plus
  • Experience with automation is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Track record of being adaptable, self-motivated, and scientifically rigorous
  • Ability to work in a team, prioritize tasks, and drive projects to completion
