The Software team is responsible for developing Mission Bio's customer-facing and internal R&D software. We are a passionate and experienced team building tools that enable cutting-edge science. Working closely with bioinformatics scientists and biologists, we are continuously improving the capabilities of the Tapestri platform. We are fully remote and based around the world.

We are looking for an experienced, senior-level software engineer to join our team and build scalable data analysis pipelines for genome analysis.


  • Build and maintain data analysis pipelines
  • Scale pipelines to support the analysis of billions of cells
  • Deploy pipelines to the cloud (Docker / AWS) and on-prem (miniconda / Linux)
  • Develop reusable components, abstractions and processes to improve our development practices
  • Mentor junior developers and bioinformatics scientists to improve their software development skills


  • Extensive experience (5+ years) with Python programming in Linux environments
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or equivalent professional experience
  • Pride in crafting high-quality, high-performance code while being pragmatic about near-term goals
  • Demonstrated ability to hold yourself and others in the team to a high standard with regard to best practices like maintainability, unit tests, code reviews and documentation
  • An interest in learning about genome sequencing and analysis. Prior knowledge is not required but you will work closely with bioinformatics scientists and biologists and will need to acquire a basic understanding of the domain.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with ambiguous, evolving requirements.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills. Your success in this role depends a lot on your ability to communicate effectively.
