At Bolt Threads, we believe that answers to our most vexing problems can be found in nature. Every day we’re inspired by the amazing materials we work with and driven by the desire to turn these materials into incredible products. We are a venture-backed, idea-driven company, led by world-class scientific and engineering talent, as well as experienced executives from the technology and apparel industries.
We’re Looking For…
A freelance Visual Designer who is curious, collaborative, and interested in creating content to inspire a cultural movement around Bolt Threads and the revolutionary work we’re doing with Mylo™ material.
You are relentless in your pursuit of making: turning big creative ideas in designs that make an impact on culture. You will illustrate concepts that excite and inspire, diving into the design process with a shared vision, creativity, and obsessive attention to detail. You can illustrate original concepts and create designs for multiple projects at one time, and inspire a team with a fresh and innovative approach to the work you touch.
In their primary role, Bolt’s Visual Designer will combine their creativity and technical
skills to produce creative assets for the Bolt and Mylo brand, including presentations,
website design, social media posts, and other marketing assets. No matter the
deliverable, the Visual Designer will work collaboratively alongside Bolt’s Art Director,
internal marketing team, and external agency partners to translate briefs from
conceptualization through finalized asset deliverables, improving the quality of existing
graphics and imbuing each project with their own sense of strategic design thinking.
Candidates for this role can be from any background and will be well-served by previous
experience at advertising agencies, brand marketing departments, or design
departments within fashion, retail / e-commerce industries.
To find success in this role, candidates should display stronger than average creative,
organizational, and time management skills. They should be detail-oriented self-starters
who can easily multitask and who understand project management stages. Excellent
presentation, communication, and design skills are essential. It is also important for the Visual Designer to be team a player, comfortable with receiving feedback and implement peer suggestions to improve designs from strategic perspectives.
Candidates should be flexible but have availability to work up to 20 hours a week with potential for additional growth in the future. Currently, Bolt’s Marketing team works remotely, using virtual meeting platforms. As such, this role will require internet
connectivity and the ability to work remotely. Precise days/hours are flexible, though
availability to communicate via email during standard hours of operation (9am-5pm M-F
PST) is required.
Please submit your resume and a portfolio link with your application.
