Carmot is seeking a motivated, meticulous individual to join our drug discovery team.

Position Summary:

You will play an important role in applying Carmot’s unique discovery technology, Chemotype Evolution, to identify novel drug leads for our internal and partnered programs. In this position you will use high-throughput techniques to generate new compound libraries. You will screen custom compound libraries in cellular assays to discover novel lead molecules while working closely with the scientists of our multidisciplinary platform team to accelerate lead discovery. This is a fast-paced environment and you should be motivated by novel challenges, inspired by the pursuit of innovative and creative solutions, and dedicated to generating high-quality data.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Building diverse compound libraries using state of the art, high-throughput automated techniques.
  • Generate and analyze biochemical and cellular screening data to meet strict timelines and goals.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize experiments to ensure high-quality data is obtained.
  • Generate reports for compound-library synthesis and screens.
  • Scheduling experiments to meet rigorous project timelines.
  • Presenting research progress at team and company meetings.

 Required experience and skills:

  • BS or MS in biochemistry, cell biology, chemistry, chemical biology or related field.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience interrogating the effects of small molecules on cell signaling pathways is highly desired.
  • Experience with robotics / automation desirable.
  • Prior experience with microplate-based data acquisition techniques (ideally applied to compound screening using biochemical and/or cell-based assays) is desirable.
  • Exceptional candidates will have experience with HPLC and mass spectrometry.
  • Eagerness to work in a high-throughput, automation driven environment.
  • Proactive problem solver with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability and expertise to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple overlapping deadlines.
