Job Description

In this position, the successful candidate will apply their skills to successfully manage the cell culture core at Atreca. The candidate will be responsible for and coordinate day to day activities in the core, including overseeing inventory of supplies and cell stocks, health and maintenance of master cell lines, expansion of cells for in vivo inoculations and maintenance of lab instruments. In addition, the candidate will assist in generation of transgenic cell lines and clone selection in order to support various in vitro and in vivo assays throughout the company. The candidate will need to collaborate with several groups within research to coordinate cell expansions, new cell generation and cell preparations for in vivo inoculations. The ideal candidate would enjoy collaboration and coordinating activities for multiple projects at once. Additionally, he/she would have excellent organization, management, and record keeping skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day to day activities in a busy cell culture core, making certain that schedules and deadlines are met and necessary cell material is provided for all areas of research.
  • Develop and apply QC standards
  • Coordinate with manager and other members of research to develop transgenic cell lines including stably expressing recombinant proteins, reporter cell lines, inducible cell lines, and knockouts.
  • Oversee the growth, health and inventory of tumor cells being maintained or expanded for various studies by cell culture specialists.
  • Coordinate with team members to assure necessary reagents, consumables and lab equipment is available for large studies and experiments.
  • Share and present data to team members.

Requirements

  • B.S. in biology or related field plus 5 years relevant experience in industry or academia.
  • M.Sc. in biology or related field plus 3 years relevant experience in industry or academia.

Absolutely Required

  • Excellent aseptic technique.
  • Experience working with multiple mammalian cell lines for use in in vitro or in vivo assays.
  • Experience producing stable transgenic cell lines, including clone selection and confirmation of expression.
  • Must have excellent trouble shooting, organization, and planning skills, and the ability to work under timeline in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Microscopy skills, including immunofluorescence and flow cytometry experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Management experience
  • Experience maintaining effector cells such as natural killer cells.
  • Proficiency using a LIMS system and working with databases
