About the job

  • Work with our media development team to push the boundaries of traditional media formulations for food-related species
  • Conduct focused independent experiments to develop, characterize, and validate novel formulations of cell culture media
  • Perform high-throughput screens for novel media formulations
  • Train research associates on new assays and techniques
  • Perform tissue culture work, including culture maintenance, characterization, and expansion 


About you

  • Mission-driven, creative, and entrepreneurial; able to move projects forward in the face of continuously evolving priorities
  • A deep understanding of metabolic pathways with an ability to conduct related mechanistic studies, as demonstrated by relevant projects or prior work experience is a must
  • A deep understanding of  the physical and functional properties of cell culture media components is required
  • Able to apply expertise in chemistry and biology to the development and testing of novel cell culture media formulations
  • Experience in developing xeno-free, serum-free, chemically-defined, custom, or basal cell culture media is preferred
  • Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field with a focus on metabolic pathways; at least 2 years of relevant industry experience is preferred
  • Experience in biochemical analytical assays, aseptic technique, and cell culture
  • Proficiency in statistical tools and Design of Experiments is a plus, but not required
  • Able to work independently in the context of experimental design, execution, optimization, data analysis, and interpretation of scientific results
