We are building our world-class team in our production CAP and CLIA microbiome sequencing laboratory at uBiome. uBiome is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to support our clinical laboratory. We have a fast-paced laboratory with a focus on innovation. Successful applicants will have experience following detailed protocols in fast-paced laboratories, enthusiasm for creating positive change through innovation, and a desire to help develop the next-generation of clinical laboratories.

About You

You have a positive outlook and a can-do attitude

You love learning and troubleshooting new technologies, problem-solving and fire-fighting.

You want to help iterate and deploy new assays into our CAP lab
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in a physical, chemical, or biological science from a college or university accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, and quality control documentation, and equipment maintenance.

Able to perform technical and scientific processes and procedures in a high complexity testing CLIA- certified, CAP - accredited laboratory.

Possess working knowledge of local, state and federal laboratory regulations.

Is able to identify problems that may adversely affect patient test results, and take corrective actions to solve the problems or notifies appropriate team members.

Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees, managers and customers as needed.

Must have a CLS licensed issued by the state of California; responsible for maintaining license.

Must have a minimum of two years experience as testing personnel in a high complexity laboratory for molecular testing.
Experience in nucleic acid extraction and running tests on next generation sequencing platform preferred.

About The Role

Work with our software team to define new ways to use software in the lab

Participate in the development and validation of new assays into the CLIA environment

Work with automation and lab robotics in a production environment
Carry out QC/QA activities as part of the company’s Quality program and commitment to patient safety by participating in the preparation of, attending and recording minutes of monthly QA meetings.

Participate in a variety of other essential laboratory activities, including reagent qualifications, inventory management, procedure writing, inspection preparation, test validations, equipment maintenance and review of equipment calibration and batch records.

Organize workflow to test patient samples efficiently and accurately following Standard Operating Procedures.

Able to follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

Support accessioning operations of clinical samples.

Capable of identifying problems that may affect test performance or reporting of test results; and will report such incidents per SOP.

Is willing to train new personnel in technical and operational procedures.

Perform and reports quality control results and assists in maintaining records of proficiency testing.

Participate in proficiency testing.

Adhere to established turnaround-times while maintaining highest quality of test results.

Ability to work collaboratively with the entire team.

Will take on other tasks as assigned to help the production line and overall laboratory.

Work schedule may be modified to meet operation requirements.
