We are looking for a Controller to report directly to the CFO and be responsible for accounting processes and various other areas within the finance function. The Controller will:

Be responsible for and manage the month-end and year-end close process. You will be able to play a lead role in the design and implementation of an optimal close process that ensures accuracy and timeliness
Apply a strong understanding of GAAP to ensure company compliance
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and look for continuous improvement
Work closely with and manage an outside CPA firm while also having experience building and managing an accounting team
Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls
Ensure that all local, state, federal, and foreign tax filings and other compliance requirements are met
Manage and coordinate cash management, risk management, and financial reporting
Interface with external stakeholders such as audit firms, banks, investors, and other stakeholders
Develop a long-term strategy related to financial systems design and lead implementation efforts
Oversee and manage non-clinical collections
Play a lead role managing Accounts Payable and managing overhead expenses through thoughtful analysis and making recommendations for savings opportunities


Key characteristics that we are looking for include:

Proven history of balancing strategic thinking with strong execution skills
Ability to be a hands-on manager with one direct report but also able to manage a larger team ultimately
Strong attention to detail but also have the ability to keep up with the fast pace of a start-up


Experience requirements

5+ years experience managing an accounting team or function
Big 4 experience strongly preferred
International experience a plus
Quickbooks experience preferred (or be a proven fast learner)
Experience with inventory and COGS
