SCIENTIST- ANALYTICAL DEVELOPMENT

The analytics group is seeking an enthusiastic scientist to work in the Analytical Method Development group as an Analytical Development Chemist. If you have proven experience in HPLC and GC method development, as well as in protein and small molecules analyses, along with a strong ability to identify and solve problems using a wide array of analytical approaches, then this role is a great fit for you!

THE POSITION

Development and optimization of HPLC-based methods (using DAD, RI, CAD and Fluorescent detectors) in support of silk-based proteins, biologically-relevant analytes, and small molecules
Development and optimization of colorimetric assays to support a wide variety of analytes
Development and optimization of GC-FID and GC-MS methods for small molecules
Work with a highly cross-functional team to identify opportunities for problem solving using analytical chemistry approaches
Documentation of experimental work to enable the efficient recovery of experimental data. Prepare presentations, technical reports, summaries, procedures and protocols
Assistance in the transfer of protocols and methods into QC and Analytical Operations groups
Some portion of time may be spent assisting in routine analysis of various sample streams
REQUIREMENTS

3 - 5 years of industry experience in an analytical method development role
PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field of study
Demonstrated technical ability in HPLC and GC method development is a must
Experience with Agilent Mass Hunter software for quantitative analysis is a must
Experience with Agilent Mass Hunter software for compound identification is a plus
Experience with HPLC and GC instrument maintenance and troubleshooting is required
Demonstrated capability in at least one other analytical technique (e.g., titration, FTIR, colorimetric assays) is a big plus
Experience with Agilent Chemstation is a plus
