Research Associate/Sr RA - FACS at Atreca

In this position, the successful candidate will apply her/his skills in flow cytometry and immunology to develop methods to enrich for B and T cell populations and sort cells into microplates. The candidate’s past experience with high-throughput cell sorting and immune cell biology will help us implement our novel technology and discover key drivers of effective immune responses.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Routine and consistent sorting of cells into microplates
Isolation and fluorescent-labeling of cells for FACS (Fluorescent-Activated Cell Sorting)
Follow laboratory safety guidelines and practices
Requirements

A degree in cell biology, immunology, or related discipline
BS/BA with 5+ years or MS with 2+ years of research experience involving routine, direct usage of FACS machines. Title will be commensurate with experience
Absolutely required: extensive experience directly using FACS sorters to isolate primary cells for post-sort expression analyses or cell culture assays;
Experience with the FACSAria, FACSJazz or Influx a plus
Experience in BSL 2 environments a plus;
Experience with B or T cells a plus
Experience with sorting cells into microplates a plus
Experience with primary cell cultures a plus
Experience with sample preparation of primary cells for RNA isolation a plus
Experience with MACS enrichment a plus
Experience with clean space control and maintenance techniques
Conscientious and excellent bench skills
Excellent recordkeeping skills
Self-motivated; possess a strong sense of urgency to drive a project to completion and ability to prioritize tasks accordingly
Candidate must be flexible and have the ability to work in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
