Position

We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, Senior Informatics Specialist to join our Informatics & Information Technology group. Specifically, this individual will join a small group whose primary focus is to provide technical and security support services to our internal customers. He/she will work in a dynamic startup environment that is fast-paced and team-oriented. As the Senior Informatics Specialist, you will be working closely with the Nurix Research and Discovery Group to put in place and support tools that will be leverages to drive success. This is a "hands-on" position with the responsibility to assess technology as well as to implement.

Primary Functions

Partner with the Director, Informatics and IT regarding Informatics strategy and core system architecture to support Discovery efforts
Implement infrastructure and enable functionality of COTS software tools (e.g., Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) and Inventory) and vendor systems (e.g., analytical and imaging tools)
Identify, evaluate, tailor, and implement science based, end-user technology
Take ownership of, troubleshoot, and resolve issues to maximize the customer experience in an organized and efficient manner
Work with vendors, managed service providers (MSPs), and other external groups to coordinate, implement, and resolve requests while adhering to IT policies, procedures, and system controls
Provide end-user education through presentations, documentation and seminars, including online training
Participate in on-call support coverage that can include, when necessary, nights, weekends, and holidays and backup Level I staff, if needed
Develop Level III technical abilities in a selected area, e.g., storage, networking, server administration
Qualifications

5+ years in a life science, technical role supporting a highly-motivated discovery group
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemistry or other science discipline. MCSE, MCSA, CompTIA A+ certifications are a plus
Proven success at system implementation, documentation, and support
Database experience such as Oracle, MySQL, and use of SQL and other tools
Knowledge and use of Linux in a research environment
Knowledge of basic Information Architecture principles and best practices
Experience working with and management hosted, or SaaS systems and applications
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and FDA regulations regarding handling data are a plus.
Ability to interact with all levels of staff to gather requirements, document processes, and help automate those processes.
