We are seeking a hands-on, highly motivated, talented Research Scientist to join our High-Throughput Screening group.  This individual will focus on ex-vivo or in-vitro cell based assay development and optimization for drug candidate profiling and screening in support of Notable’s multiple projects. The candidate will serve as a team lead and provide expertise in identifying and implementing biological assays using our state of the art technology. He/she will be responsible for assisting in the design, development and optimization of our many external projects, including both our biotech and clinical partnerships, and development of continuous platform improvements.  Emphasis will be on helping to design and implement complex assays not currently run through our unique platform. The candidate should have a proven record of applying sound scientific judgement to answer critical questions, as well as a proven ability to design and implement appropriate experiments. Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking ability are required. The right candidate should also be very comfortable with working different types of automated high throughput equipment.  Ability to work independently in a high pace, multi-disciplinary environment is essential. Direct experience in hematology-oncology, drug discovery research and/or high-throughput screening strongly preferred.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and optimize cell based plate assays to support external partnerships and drug discovery efforts
  • Assist in translation of external and internal projects onto our automated HTS platform, while effective working cross-functionally in a highly collaborative team environment
    • Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
    • Maintain a cutting edge awareness of technical developments and scientific knowledge and apply these where possible to improve performance and data quality
    • Present results of work, interpret data, and draw conclusions in a fully independent manner.
    • Independently write scientific/technical reports and presentations
    • Must think critically and work resourcefully to resolve problems
  • Be very comfortable with automation and high throughput liquid handling instruments
  • Clearly present research updates to different project teams and across different company departments

What You Bring to the Role

  • PhD degree (5+ years industry exp) or MS/BS with (8+ years industry exp) in molecular cell biology, cancer biology, immunology, biochemistry or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of flow cytometry experience
  • Industry experience in high throughput drug discovery and assay development preferred
  • Strong scientific foundation in the understanding and implementation of a wide range of cell-based and biochemical assays and readouts using state of the art technologies.
    • The candidate should be able to think critically and creatively across multiple disciplines and have demonstrated the ability to solve research problems with experience in high throughput assays
  • FlowJo or Prism experience a plus
  • The candidate must be able to analyze and report data concisely and rigorously.
  • Adaptability and the ability to learn new techniques rapidly are essential.
  • Familiarity in the use of lab automation and HTS instrumentation is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and successfully interact with a diverse team of scientists to deliver quality data and results
