A Textile Developer/ Engineer who has a vision for what Microsilk fiber can become when it grows up to be a textileThis is your opportunity to bring an entirely new fiber to the worldThe ideal candidate is curious, technically proficient and agile in evolving with a growing technology as it scales to become commercial.  This person will lead development of yarns and textiles with partners around the globe. To be successful, this person must be able to bridge the world of research, textile processing and the needs of the markets that we will work in. This role involves travel, domestic and international about 25% of the time.

The Work

Within the first 30 days you will….

  • Build relationships across the organization including  biology, fiber spinning, manufacturing, quality and marketing

  • Gain a deep understanding of the technologies we use so that you can apply that knowledge when developing products

  • Develop a working understanding of our business strategies and how they apply to Microsilk as a product

  • Work with marketing to understand their plans for the upcoming year

  • Learn what steps need to be taken to ensure security of Bolt’s IP

  • Learn which regular status meetings inside Bolt will benefit your efforts and participate as needed

In the first 60 days you will….

  • Collaborate with the VP of Product to establish the supply chain and other necessary resources to commercialize fibers ( ie. consulting and testing resources outside the company)

  • Work with Director of Corporate Responsibility to understand how sustainability goals for the company will mesh with your work. You will be implementing environmental policies with the supply chain and working with them on continuous improvement

  • Proactively coordinate with marketing on any changes to your timelines so that they can adjust plans as needed

  • You will become  a critical source of feedback for our Research and Process Development  teams

  • Create a work plan to achieve the strategic goals of Microsilk for the next 12 months including but not limited to a supply chain plan

  • Partner with our Quality and Manufacturing groups in setting quality specification standards that ensure consistency in manufacturing

  • Get out there and see what you can do with Microsilk

This Team will be Excited to Have You Because You Bring...

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering or related field such as Textile Design

  •  5-7 years experience in textile development

  •  Extensive experience managing projects including timelines, costs and product specs

  •  Strong sense of curiosity and resilience with a high tolerance for ambiguity

  •  Ability to manage vendor relationships independently

  •  Able to understand and advise on all textile testing protocols and interpret results
